Do you feel overwhelmed trying to get it all right, never good enough no matter how hard you try?
Do you seem outwardly successful to others, but secretly feel disconnected, dissatisfied and lost?
Or maybe you’re feeling stuck in your relationships, at work, hopeless or frustrated because you don’t know how to move forwards, anxiety getting out of hand, depressive periods increasingly frequent.
I see you. You’re not alone.
Let’s work together to get you more connected and balanced so you can feel calm, ease back into your power and live a more meaningful life.
My primary approach is a therapeutic model called Internal Family Systems. IFS blends well with my original person-centred training as both are client-focused and trust that each of us already contains all we need to heal wounds, realise our potential and live meaningful lives once we are able to more easily access these innate resources. IFS is a deeply compassionate approach to understanding people. It has at its heart the understanding that we are all made up of multiple ‘parts’ or sub personalities that can take on particular roles, and a core Self that is a deep source of love, healing and leadership. Find out more about IFS here.
Welcome, I’m Nicola. Since 2014 I have been working with adult clients who want to improve their self esteem and confidence through deep Self connection. I meet with clients in my lovely therapy room in Glasgow, close to Central Station, or online in the UK and abroad.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to explore problems and feelings that you might find hard to discuss with family and friends. I work in an empathic, kind and accepting way to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and make positive changes in your life. This can include gentle challenge or offering alternative perspectives to yours that are always an invitation and never a prescription. My therapeutic approach is the Internal Family Systems model, or IFS.
What is it like to work with me?
My aim is to be authentically myself when working with clients – warm, relaxed, curious, non-judgemental and often humorous. My aim is to help put you at your ease so you can feel safe and supported to explore whatever brings you to counselling. I work with people who struggle with anxiety, control, perfectionism and feelings of not being good enough. If that sounds like you, please get in touch for an initial discovery call to see if I am a good fit for you.
How do I get started?
Let’s schedule a 20-minute discovery call to work out whether you want to begin working with me. This is an important first conversation to find out more information and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.
How long is a session and how long will counselling take?
Sessions last 60 minutes. We will meet weekly or fortnightly in person or online. Some people find a few sessions to be enough to work through specific concerns while others benefit from taking more time to explore themselves in open-ended counselling. I suggest you think about having three to four sessions initially to get a sense of whether counselling with me is benefiting you and thereafter we can review regularly.
What does it cost and how do I pay?
My fee is £60 a session. I ask you to make payment by bank transfer before the session.
What is your cancellation policy?
I’m self employed and I need to have a comprehensive cancellation policy. If you need to cancel a session, I ask that you give me two full business days’ notice. This does not include weekends. I charge the full session fee if you give less than 48 business hours’ notice or do not attend the session unexpectedly. Please let me know if you’re running late. After 15 minutes without notice or arrival I consider the session to be a DNA (did not attend) and the full fee is due.
What are your qualifications?
I have a postgraduate diploma in counselling from Strathclyde University and I am a trained internal families systems therapist, via the IFS Institute. I am committed to ongoing training and development.
I am a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and abide by its ethical framework.
